West Point Leadership Program
The West Point Leadership Program at the National Command & Staff College is designed to equip law enforcement, military personnel, and public safety professionals with elite leadership skills rooted in the timeless principles of the United States Military Academy. This program fosters strategic thinking, ethical decision-making, and adaptive leadership to drive positive change within organizations and communities.
PROGRAM OPTIONS
We offer a variety of learning formats to accommodate different schedules and learning preferences:
Self-Paced Online Course – Learn at your own pace, on your own schedule.
Instructor-Led Online Course – Engage in live instruction with expert faculty.
Blended Course – A combination of online and live instruction for maximum flexibility.
Three-Week In-Person Course: Tools for Culture Change – An immersive experience designed for transformational leadership impact.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Dave Mather – Public Safety Leadership Expert
With over 35 years of experience in public safety leadership, Dr. Dave Mather has worked with more than 350 agencies worldwide as an executive coach, leadership instructor, keynote speaker, and consultant. His expertise has helped public safety organizations enhance their leadership culture, strategic operations, and organizational resilience.
Dr. Mather’s extensive career includes:
Former Executive Director for RULETC, a U.S. Department of Justice project supporting law enforcement agencies.
Training consultant and leadership mentor for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
Founding Professional Advisor for the Center for Excellence in Public Safety Leadership.
University instructor with a Master’s in Organizational Leadership and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a focus on adult learning methodologies.

Course Options
Self-Paced Online Course
Participants complete 60 hours of online training at their own pace. They engage with peers through written posts, monitored by an instructor who provides constructive feedback.
This option offers maximum schedule flexibility.

Certification: 60 hours of eLearning from the National Command and Staff College.

Instructor-Led Online Course
Participants complete 72 hours of training over 12 weeks in a structured, instructor-led cohort. This course combines flexibility with scheduled online meetings.

- Discussion boards
- Quizzes
Certification: 72 hours of eLearning from the National Command and Staff College.

Blended Course
A combination of online and in-person learning, participants complete 12 weeks of instructor-led training before attending a 5-day residency with faculty.
